On January 15, the 2014 HUST Conference for Chinese Language Students was successfully held in the Activity Center for International Students. Ms. Zhao Xiaofeng,the deputy dean of the School of International Education, Ms. Luo lin, the deputy director of department of Chinese language and literature, along with Chinese teachers and over 100 Chinese language students attended the ceremony.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Ms. Zhao expressed her best wishes to the students, hoping they could manage Chinese and be the eligible ambassadors for Chinese culture. Following this, Ms. Luo stated her faith in the students to learn harder and to set good examples for others.
Mr.Yin Xinlin who is in charge of Chinese language students presented a video clip to review students’ performance in studying and activities in the past one semester. All details in the video echoed with the feelings of every teacher and student in the ceremony.
After the exciting video, Ms. Zhao and Ms. Luo granted the certification and awards to 65 Chinese language students from 33 countries, including excellent student award, perfect attendance award and greatest improvement award. Then, 4 excellent students were invited to share their learning method and experience. Among them, Anna from Germany impressed everyone by her fluent Chinese. She also believes that although there will be disappointment, one can definitely manage Chinese if he persists.
With the development of international education in HUST, more and more international students have the desire to study here. In 2014, over 360 long-term Chinese language students came to HUST and other 385 students have joined in various short-term Chinese programs. Furthermore, 566 undergraduates, master and PhD students in English-taught programs have also attended Chinese class.
“学好中国话，朋友遍天下！”1月15日，首届留学生汉语生大会在我校留学生活动中心隆重举行。国际教育学院副院长赵晓峰，中文系副主任骆琳副教授参加大会并致辞，汉语班各班任课老师及100余名来自各国的汉语生参加了大会。
赵晓峰首先致辞，她希望大家一起努力，学好中文，传播中国文化，成为一名合格的文化使者。“大家一定要再接再厉，做好榜样，带动其他同学共同进步。一花独放不是春，百花齐放春满园。”骆琳总结道。
学生活动回顾环节，汉语生事务主管老师尹新林通过播放短片，和大家一起回顾了过去一年中汉语生学习活动情况。足球场上的英姿飒爽，书法课上的挥毫泼墨，校史馆里的驻足凝视，生日会上的欢声笑语……课外活动中点点滴滴，引起了大家的共鸣。
随后，赵晓峰和骆琳向来自33个国家的65名汉语生颁发了证书和奖品。本次颁奖，共设置了三个奖项，分别为优秀奖、全勤奖、进步奖，分别表彰各方面表现突出、出勤优秀、汉语进步明显的学生。4名优秀汉语生代表还分享了学习汉语的方法和经验。来自德国的安娜一口流利的汉语让所有人印象深刻。谈到学习汉语的经历，安娜真诚的说道：“虽然有过失望，但只要坚持，就能学好汉语。”
随着我校来华留学生教育的长足发展，越来越多的国际学生到校学习交流，汉语生规模也不断扩大。2014年，共有360余名长期汉语生来校学习，385名学生参加了各类短期中文项目。另外，还有566名英语授课本科生及硕博生接受了汉语课程。
