At 9:00am, January 14th, Exit and Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau, Yujiashan Police Station, and university Department of Safety and Security, made joint efforts on searching three main international student dormitory: Bojingge apartment, Friendship apartment, and Huahong apartment, and they made ground check on every student’s passport and residence permit validity.

4 international students were taken away by the police because they were holding very seriously expired residence permits. Currently, they are detained in the police station because they all had previous convictions of residence permits expired. According to the police, 4 students will be repatriated by Chinese government in the end of January and will be forbidden to enterChinain the following 1-5 years.   

In 2016, the police will start very strict administration on preventing further residence permit expiry cases among international students by regular checking on both on-campus dormitory and off-campus dormitory. According to theEntry exit administration law of the people's Republic ofChina, international illegal residents will be repatriated by Chinese government and will be forbidden to enterChinain the next 1-5 years. International Student Office hereby kindly reminds all international students to obey Chinese law and make application to extend your resident permit 30 days prior to the current expiry date. According to HUST university regulation, every student is required to hand in the copy of your newly-applied residence permit to international student office in time.    

1月14日上午9时，武汉市公安局出入境管理局、喻家山派出所、校保卫处等部门，联合对我校柏景阁学生公寓、友谊公寓、华宏公寓等3处留学生公寓进行集中检查，逐楼层排查在住留学生所持护照和居留证件有效期情况。    

经地毯式搜查，我校共有4名留学生因持有居留许可严重超期，被警方带走。该4名学生因涉嫌多次居留许可违法超期，已被警方控制。据了解，该4名学生将于1月下旬被遣送回国，且1-5年内不得入境。

2016年起，警方将定期对我校留学生公寓及校外居住区进行集中排查，严格管控外国留学生在华持有居留证件违法超期情况。《中华人民共和国出境入境管理法》规定，非法居留的外国人可以被遣送出境，且被遣送出境的人员，自被遣送出境之日起一至五年内不准入境。留学生办公室现提醒所有在校留学生严格遵守中国法律法规，在所持居留证件有效期限届满三十日前向留学生办公室提出申请延长居留期限，且办理完成最新的居留证件后需及时向留学生办公室报备。
