"The lecture is so funny, I would like to attend it next time!” On December 3, the 4th“Discover China” Lecture for HUST International Studentsis delivered in the room C210 of Dong Jiu Lou. Approximately 100 international students from all over the world listen to the lecture with the topic of some traditional Chinese festivals you might not know.

"How many traditional Chinese festivals do you know?” Ms. He Li, the lecturer from School of International Education, raises a question before her lecture. “I know, Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Mid-autumn Festival…” KIM JAEHYEONG, the Korean exchange student, answers without hesitation. “Great! Today I will bring you some traditional festivals you might not know.” Ms. He introduces some festivals such as Chunlong Festival, Zhongyuan Festival, Cold Food Festival, and Winter Solstice Festival with detailed information including origin, legend and customs. Many international students concentrate their attention on the lecture as well as make notes since they never hear about those festivals.

One hour and a half later, the lecture is over. “It is so amazing. I never know that there are so many traditional festivals in China. More importantly, there is a beautiful story behind every single festival.” AREGAMALAGE SUJEEWA VIJAYANTHI POLGAMPALA, a doctoral student from Sri Lanka, seems very happy, “I am right here!”

It is reported that Discover China Lectures for HUST International Students is sponsored and organized by the School of International Education. It aims at opening a window of China to international students at HUST, and it is organized every month. Experts and specialists are invited to deliver lectures regarding many aspects of China.

      “讲座很有趣，我以后还要听！”12月3日，华中科技大学国际学生人文讲座第四讲开讲，来自世界各国的100余名“华中大人”齐聚东九楼C210教室，聆听“你不知道的中国传统节日”。

     “你们知道的中国传统节日有哪些？”来自国际教育学院的汉语教师何利担任这次讲座的主讲嘉宾。开讲之前，她向台下的百余张好奇的国际面孔问到。“老师，我知道！春节、元宵节、中秋节。。。”韩国交换生金宰亨有些迫不及待。“很好！今天我想告诉大家可能不知道的传统节日。”从春龙节到中元节，从寒食节到冬至节，何利向国际学生一一道来这些节日的起源、传说、习俗等。由于是第一次听说这些节日，很多国际学生非常专注，并不停的做笔记。

      一个半小时的讲座很快结束了，大家感到意犹未尽。“太有意思了，没想到中国的节日这么多，而且都有美丽的故事。”斯里兰卡博士生李兰香看起来很开心，她一直想做中国方面的研究。“今天我来对了！”

       据悉，国际学生人文讲座是由国际教育学院推出的校园文化活动品牌，旨在为国际学生打开一个了解中国的“窗口”。讲座每月举办一次，邀请校内外专家学者教师为国际学生介绍多面立体的中国。
