36 International students from France, Britain, Spain, Norway, Poland and America participated in the 7th HUST Short-term Chinese Program (SCP) from July 4 to 30 July, 2016.
During the past one month, the International students learnt Chinese language, played Chinese Kungfu and made Chinese dumplings, in which they were exposed to the Chinese culture. Meanwhile, they experienced Wuhan’s long history in the Yellow Crane Tower, appreciated Wuhan Opera, tasted authentic Wuhan snacks in the Hubuxiang lane and experienced Wuhan’s development blueprint at the Wuhan Planning Exhibition Hall. Through the four weeks, all the International students had a profound understanding of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan and even the whole China.
"I think it was very interesting, because for most of us, it was our first time in China, and in Asia. So I think it was great, because we discovered a lot of things. We discovered the culture, the Chinese culture.” Said Amel El Yaaqoubi, a student from Institut Supérieur d'Electronique de Paris (ISEP) when talking about this program. Benjamin Andersen, coming from Telemark University College, wrote on his WeChat, " Thanks for an incredibly awesome stay at HUST! We will meet again!"
Owing to the assistance of 20 Chinese volunteers, this program ends up to be a success. When asked about the work of volunteers, Pierre-Jean Drieu La Rochelle, a student who also comes from ISEP said: ”They are always helpful, and if we are asking you in the WeChat group to ask for some help, there is always someone who can help us.”
