To advance the quality improvement, efficiency enhancement and sustainable development of the International Students Clinical Internship Program, the HUST 2026 International Students’ Clinical Internship Flagship Event Launch Ceremony was successfully held at the PBL Teaching Building of Tongji Medical College on March 30, 2026. Teacher representatives from relevant functional departments and faculties of the School of International Education, Office of International Affairs, Affiliated Hospitals and Clinical Schools, as well as 20 international clinical internship students from Germany, Romania, Austria and other countries attended the event.
Dr. Huang Chao, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, delivered the opening address for the event. He extended a sincere welcome to all international students, and introduced that HUST boasts strong educational strength and a leading global ranking, with its International Students Clinical Internship Program advancing steadily. He noted that while studying in China may bring challenges from language and cultural differences, it is also a valuable opportunity to experience the vitality of China firsthand. He hoped that students would actively share their experiences, tell Chinese stories, while the School of International Education will continue to optimize services to support their growth and progress.
In the student sharing session, Malte Pfister from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany, delivered a speech in Chinese, German and English respectively as the representative. He applied for the program through the German-Chinese Medical Association (DCGM), and is currently completing his clinical internship at the Affiliated Tongji Hospital. He shared his professional insights from department rotations, his growth journey in learning Chinese, and his rich on-campus life experience, and expressed his keen interest in Tongji’s medical education and the fine traditional Chinese culture.
Subsequently, the participating teachers and students held a Table-discussion on topics including life experience sharing, review of national conditions education practical courses, and suggestions for high-quality development of the program.
This launch ceremony kicked off the annual series of activities, and laid a solid foundation for the steady advancement of the program. The School of International Education will meticulously organize the International Students’ Clinical Internship Flagship Events, carry out talent cultivation by leveraging the “HUST Model” for national conditions education, the three-classroom and four-dimensional integrated education system, strive to foster international talents who know and are friendly to China, and continuously build the brand of the International Students Clinical Internship Program.
