Q: I intend to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship, which one should I apply for?

A: It depends on which category you are aiming for and which institution you plan to apply to.

If you intend to apply directly to our university for graduate program, please submit the online application in time and in accordance with the stated requirements. Scholarship candidates will be selected from the pool of qualified applicants after the academic review.

Q: What is Type A/ Type B?

Type A and Type B are different categories refer to Chinese Government Scholarship programs.

Type A refers to the programs administered by authorities other than Chinese universities. Examples include the Bilateral Program, EU Window Program, MOFCOM Scholarship, Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program and so on.

Applicants should contact the relevant dispatching authorities in advance for application details.

Type B refers to the programs managed by Chinese universities for selection and enrollment, such as Chinese University Program and Silk Road Program. Applicants could apply to the universities directly.


Q: What is the application deadline, and when the scholarship result will be announced?

A: Applicants for Type B should submit the application between October 15th, 2025 and March 1st, 2026.

Scholarship candidate will be contacted individually by email with updates on the review progress and the final result.

Applicants for Type A should consult the dispatching authorities for details, and apply in due time as required. Scholarship results will also be announced by the respective authorities.


Q: Am I eligible to apply for scholarship?

A: Generally, students with GPA over 3.0/4 or 3.75/5 or 70/100 are eligible to apply for scholarship.


Q: Should I mail the Hard Copy of my application documents to HUST?

A: No, please submit the online application directly.


Q: Should I send my application documents to China Scholarship Council (CSC)?

A: CSC is NOT entitled to accept any individual applications for any Chinese Government Scholarship programs. Please DO NOT submit your application to CSC.


Q: What are the procedures of receiving the HUST pre-admission letter?

A: For degree programs:

1. Log in to the HUST online application system at: http://admission.hust.edu.cn/.

2. Click ONLY for Pre-admission Letter. Choose the program, upload the required documents, complete your application and submit.

3. Applications will be evaluated by the school/department concerned. Applicants that pass the evaluation will receive the Pre-admission Letter.

The Letter could be submitted to the dispatching authority as the supporting document during your scholarship application.
