Dr. Wanigamuni Hiran Kumar Wimalaratne , Coordinator of the Preparatory Committee for HUST Sri Lanka Alumni Association, Paid a Successful Visit to HUST

During April 22th -29th, 2016, Dr. Wanigamuni Hiran Kumar Wimalaratne, Coordinator of the Preparatory Committee for HUST Sri Lanka Alumni Association and member of HUST 2012 Batch Alumni paid a successful visit to HUST. During the visit, Mr. Liang Qian, Vice President of the university and Deputy Chair of HUST Central Alumni Association, Mr. Zhu Lubin, Deputy Director of the Alumni Work and External Liaison Office, Mr. Yu Hailin, Dean of the School of international Education, Ms. Zhao Xiaofeng, Deputy Dean of the School of international Education cordially met him.

Dr. Hiran reported to the University of the current situation and development of the alumni, preparatory work done for the launch of the HUST Sri Lanka Alumni Association (SLAA- HUST). He said that all Sri Lanka alumni had good memories in China and love the Alma Mater, which is also the reason why we would like to establish the alumni association soon. He believed that with the guidance and help of Central Alumni Association and the School of International Education, the SLAA-HUST can be established as soon as possible so that it could help maintain the liaison among alumni and promote the communication and cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.

Mr. Liang Qian, Vice President of HUST, gave a warm welcome to Dr. Hiran and expressed his gratitude to those who made great contribution to enhance the communication among alumni and the link between alumni and the Alma Mater. After introducing the recent development of the university, He emphasized that the SLAA-HUST, after its establishment, shall work closely with university to connect more alumni and create an atmosphere of "unity, up, happy”, then serve as an important bridge among the country's alumni, HUST and China. 

Ms. Zhao Xiaofeng, Vice dean of the School of International Education, carefully asked about the development of Sri Lanka's alumni in all walks of life, and discussed with Dr. Hiran about how to expand HUST’s influence in Sri Lanka. She hoped that the Preparatory Committee could work closely with the Central Alumni Association and the School of International Education, do necessary preparatory work and make a clear schedule to establish the SLAA-HUST soon.

Dr. Hiran also listened to the university’s opinions about <the Constitution of Sri Lanka Alumni Association of Huazhong University of science and technology (Draft)> and discussed about the specific schedule of establishing the alumni association.

During the visit, Dr. Hiran also visited the International Medical Student Office, the University History Museum, Wuhan Union Hospital and his supervisor-Professor Yang Shuhua and had a meeting with the Sri Lankan students on campus.

Sri Lanka Alumni Association of HUST, after it is established in July 2016, shall be the first international alumni association of HUST. It shall provide a good reference and precious experience to international alumni in other countries.
