From April 19th to 23rd, the “Discover at HUST - International Academy Camp” was successfully held at HUST for the very first time. International students from Bangladesh, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Nepal participated in this camp.
The International Academy Camp aims at building a bridge between HUST supervisors and the international students, so as to enhance the HUST international influence and attract more high-quality international students to study at HUST.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Mr. AI Xiao, Senior Program Officer of the School of International Education of HUST. Ms. ZHAO Xiaofeng, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education of HUST, gave a welcome speech to all participants. She encouraged international students to cherish the opportunity and share their learning outcomes, and wished the International Academy Camp a great success.
During the event, Mr. DING Qing and Mr. ZHENG Changjun, Professors from the School of Management, delivered lectures on “Global Logistics and Risk Management” and “Introduction to Professor Changjun Zheng's Research Interests” respectively. Ms. ZHANG Siqi and Ms. CHEN Xi, Lecturers from the School of Economics, delivered lectures on “The Impact of Non-tariff Trade Barrier on the Agricultural Trade” and “Social Norms and Female Labor Supply in China” respectively. The participants were enlightened by the professors’ international horizon, research perspectives and academic achievements, and responded with great interest and heated discussion.
At the closing ceremony, LUIZ FILIPE BOTELHO ESMERALDO, a Brazilian student of HUST, guided the students to have a campus tour via video link. In the end, the international students gave presentations about their own research fields. Through the International Academy Camp, the international students learned about China's rapid development in the fields of economy, culture and scientific research, and expressed their strong desire to study at HUST in the future.
The International Academy Camp provided opportunities for the international students to make academic and cultural exchanges online with HUST faculties. In the meantime, HUST supervisors can select outstanding students through direct communications with the prospective candidates. For now, HUST has set up concrete targets in the international education development plan and this International Academy Camp is designed for attracting more high-quality international students to study at HUST.
