Hundreds of International Doctors Explored Optics Valley to Perceive China

On November 20, 2019, the “China Perception– The 4th 100 International Doctors Explore Optics Valley” was held in Optics Valley, China. The event was hosted by the China Scholarship Council and organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST). There were more than 100 international doctoral students from Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Central China Normal University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Huazhong Agricultural University participating in this event.

 

At the opening ceremony, Prof. Chen Jianguo, Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, said that HUST attaches great importance to international student training and has cultivated more than 7,000 professionals from more than 150 countries all around the world. Furthermore, HUST has organized the activity exploring Optics Valley consecutively for 4 years for Chinese government scholarship students in Wuhan to deeply understand this dynamic high-tech zone, and personally experience the development achievements and great potential of the optoelectronics industry. The activity will not only enrich the experience of international students studying in China, but also help students understand the successful development of Optics Valley, Wuhan and even contemporary China.

 

Huazhong University of Science and Technology alumnus representative, founder of VISION MEDIA TEC, ISAAC IBRAHIM (Li Bai) from Ghana made a speech at the conference and shared his entrepreneurial experience in Optics Valley. After receiving his Ph.D. in economics from HUST, he founded his own company, VISION MEDIA TEC, on Guanshan Avenue, which is known as the "Guanggu Golden Artery". He said that "The 100 International Doctors Explore Optics Valley" were the major turning point in his life, leading him to become a businessman after his graduation. He believes that Optics Valley gives international students unlimited possibilities and encourages more outstanding international students to look for opportunities and pursue their dreams in Optics Valley.

 

Dr. Chen Dingguo, Chief Scientist of Wuhan Industrial Institute for Optoelectronics(WIIO), reported “From Invention to Product—on Sustainability of Company in Display Industry”. The reports took OLED as an example. He gave an explanation about the industrialization process from invention to product, stressing the impacts of technology, market, pilot and policy on industrialization, and expecting a brighter future of Optics Valley in the development of OLED industry. Mao Xin, Director of Enterprise Service Department of WIIO, introduced the development achievements and future planning of Optics Valley and WIIO.

 

Nie Xiaojia, a Chinese doctoral student and MOHSIN ALI MARWAT, a Ph.D. student from Pakistan, as the doctoral student representatives of HUST, shared their research results with their professional learning and life experiences.

 

In the characteristic interactive section of “I make suggestions for Optics Valley”, international student representatives expressed their glorious expectations for the future development of Wuhan from the employment situation, environmental protection and business development. ALI ABBAS, a Pakistan Ph.D. student majoring International Relationships at Central China Normal University, expressed a hope that the government will establish more normative rules and regulations such as visa policies to attract international investors, give them better business opportunities, and attract more tourists from all over the world. He believes that Wuhan will become the center of economic, tourism, business and education in the central China.

 

In the afternoon, hundreds of international doctors visited high-tech enterprises such as WIIO, Wuhan New Energy Research Institute, Wuhan Woyi Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Huayinxin Technology Co., Ltd. to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of Chinese high-tech enterprises and to perceive the contribution of scientific research achievements from Chinese universities to economic development.

 

WIIO, which is the co-organizer of “China Perception” this year, was also very impressed with the internship and employment of international students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Dr. Han Dao, Dean of WIIO, said “With the construction of “One Belt, One Road”, WIIO has embarked on the road of international development, and the demand for international talents is increasing. Now we can recruit high-quality international talents with high professional skills and better understanding of China and their home countries without going abroad. We have already had internship students coming from Bulgaria, Jordan and other countries."

 

“The 4th 100 International Doctors Explore Optics Valley” organized by HUST helped 100 international doctoral students experience the flourishing development of Optics Valley and Wuhan and the vitality of enterprise innovation and development. After the event, Ukrainian doctoral student OLEKSANDR SHEVCHUK from HUST said "I have been studying in Wuhan for more than four years, from a person who can only understand a little bit Chinese to a person who can speak Chinese fluently. My dream is just like my Chinese, becoming better and better every day. I hope to continue to pursue my dreams in Optics Valley after graduation."
