Summary Conference of OPIS was Successfully Carried out

On September 14th, the summary conference of Orienting Program for International Student (OPIS) for this semester is held in No.9 Teaching Building. Three teachers from the School of International Education of HUST, members of SICA, and the student volunteers have attended the conference with pleasure.

In the beginning, Ms. Zhao Xiaofeng, the Deputy Dean of the School of International Education of HUST, expressed her gratefulness to SICA members and the volunteers with whole hearted approval. She also emphasized that in order to make the School of International Education of HUST a home to everybody, to help foreign students feel warm in this home, both the hard work of the faculty and student organization like SICA is extremely essential.

After the inspiring speech of Ms. Zhao, Guang Honghao, the president of SICA announced the list of outstanding volunteers, and Ms. Zhao issued prizes to them.

Then, the representatives of the outstanding volunteers gave their speeches. The first one is an outstanding coordinator, Li Yang, who used plenty of photos of her and her foreign friends taken in the OPIS to illustrate their wonderful and rewarding experiences. She happily introduced that she not only helped the new foreign students a lot in life, but also made friends with them, took them to try things of China-style and even Wuhan-style. The second representative is Wang Xinyan, an office assistant. She made a simple introduction and summary of her work, and expressed her happiness for both helping and cooperating with the new foreign students, making friends with them and having the chance to feel the charm of different cultures.

Afterwards, two representatives of new foreign students delivered their speeches. Both Krishna form Indiaand Michael fromGermanyshowed their gratification to SICA and volunteers. Michael also mentioned that he really enjoyed the programs of SICA, as OPIS, weekly Chinese Corner, and tutor program, which enrich his college life here and do good to his Chinese learning.

We believe the friendship between the volunteers and the new foreign students will be long-lasting. And may all foreign students can make more friends and have fun when they study in HUST.
