The 2nd "China Exploration" Hubei Preliminary was held at Wuhan Institute of Physical Education on May 12. More than 100 teachers and students from 10 Universities including our university(HUST), Wuhan University, Huazhong Agricultural University,Zhongnan University of Economics and Law participated in the competition.

The Opening Ceremony was hosted by Mr. Yi Sanping, the assistant to the dean and began with the wonderful performance prepared by students from Wuhan Institute of Physical Education. Mr. Liu Ligang, the director of the Office of Foreign Cooperation and Exchanges of Hubei Education Department, delivered a speech. He introduced the general development of international students in Hubei Province, affirmed the positive effects of organizing cultural activities for international students and wished the events a great success. After the athletes and the judges making their solemn pledges, the competition started.

According to the rules, each school or university is supposed to select a team which consisted of 8 international students and 2 Chinese students for Orienteering, Sports Art Performance and Basketball Game 3+3, which aimed ate showing their physical quality, spirit of cooperation and aesthetic expression.

During the Orienteering, the organizer set 10 barriers at different spots for 10 participants on each team to challenge in relay. Different from the traditional Orienteering, 10 enjoyable missions had been set at the barriers. The team from HUST was in the lead of the first five missions. The sixth mission was to pick up the peanuts with chopsticks. OUMAIMA AMLIL from Morocco who was very familiar with using chopsticks, raced against time and completed the mission by picking up 10 peanuts with her teammates’ encouragement, She did it so well that even the Chinese present felt amazed. “The Orienteering was full of joy and Chinese elements. I found it so interesting to finish the tasks like positioning the Chinese chess pieces and kicking shuttlecock!” said BATJARGAL SUGAR from Mongolia, a member of our team. Finally we were the forth team to finish the Orienteering.

After a short break, the teams took part in the second event-the Sports Art Performance. All the teams made full efforts to show their passion, such as Chinese folk dance from Three Gorges University, martial arts from Wuhan University and ribbon dance from Central China Normal University and so forth. By Chinese dragon dance mixed with Latin dance and hip-hop, our team won passionate applause from the audience.Finally, our team won the 4th place which not only manifested Chinese culture, but also expressed the fashion edge of our era.

After the midday rest, the highly-expected event, Basketball Game 3+3 began as the highlight of the day. Our athletes were Tian Yifang, a Chinese member of HUST basketball team, BENJAMIN ERROL LIGHTFOOT SHAKEEM, a student from Bahamian from Tongji Campus and ABESO QUINTIN JOSE MEJIA from Equatorial Guinea, a student of School of Electronic Information and Communication. Our team won Yangtze University by 13:8 in the first quarter and the martial spirit has been greatly roused.  Then the athletes had better cooperation under the guidance of the coach and won all the four games in a row for group match Later, our team won a narrow victory against Jianghan University by 6:5 and entered the champion game with Wuhan University. Although exhausted, our athletes were still unremitting and kept the perfect cooperation. Finally, we won all the 6 games and won the champion by 10:5.

With great joint efforts after the whole day, our team won the final champion for this grand event, followed by Three Gorges University, Wuhan University and Central China Normal University. “Thanks to the intensive attention of our university and the joint efforts of the athletes, we won the champion which is so exiting! I’m proud of all of our team members!” said Ms. Yan Wei, the team leader from HUST, “The coach and my colleagues worked so hard after the athletes’ registration. Everybody dedicated in the event and now we are awarded!”

It is reported that the event was hosted by the Education Department of Hubei Province and organized by Wuhan Institute of Physical Education, which aims at providing an platform for International Students to demonstrate themselves, to promote the sportsmanship and to enhance the international friendship. Since firstly held in 2014, this event has been widely supported and concerned about. The competition is at provincial, regional and national level and the top four teams from Hubei provincial division will head to Yangzhou to join the Regional Competition in Southeast China. On behalf of Hubei Province, these teams will compete for the entrance ticket of the national competition.

                                               我校荣获第二届“留动中国”留学生体育比赛湖北赛区冠军

5月12日，第二届“留动中国—在华留学生阳光运动文化之旅”湖北区比赛在武汉体育学院举行，来自华中科技大学，武汉大学，中南财经政法大学，华中农业大学等10所湖北高校的100多名师生参加了比赛。

比赛开幕式在武汉体育学院同学们的精彩表演中拉开了序幕。开幕式由武汉体育学院院长助理易三平主持，湖北省教育厅对外合作与交流处处长刘立刚发表了致辞，他介绍了湖北省近年来来华留学生的整体发展情况，肯定了开展来华留学生文化活动的积极作用并预祝活动成功。在正式庄严的运动员和裁判员代表宣誓环节后，比赛正式开始。

根据比赛规则，每个参赛院校派选一支代表队，每支代表队由8个留学生和2个中国学生组成，比赛项目包括定向越野，体育艺术展演和篮球三个环节，以考核参赛队伍的身体素质，团结协作力，艺术表现力等综合实力。

在定向越野环节，赛事承办方在校内不同地方设置了十处关卡，各队的十个选手接棒迎接挑战。和传统的定向越野不同，每个关卡都设定了趣味游戏竞赛环节，比如第六个关卡设置的是“用筷子夹花生米”环节。那时华科队员们争分夺秒飞奔在校园，已经领先前五个关卡，来自摩洛哥的孟莉莉更是分秒必争，经常吃中餐的她“筷法”娴熟，在队友的鼓励下顺利夹完十个花生米完成了任务，令在场的许多中国学生都自叹不如。“这次定向越野的游戏环节充满趣味性和中国文化特色，比如摆象棋，踢毽子等，我觉得很有意思！”我校蒙古选手苏格尔赞叹道。最后我校代表队以第四名的成绩完成了定向越野环节。

短暂休息后，选手们迎来了第二个比赛项目——体育艺术展示。各高校代表队拿出自家绝活：三峡大学的民族舞，武汉大学的武术，华师的彩带舞等，台上的留学生们神采飞扬，尽显青春朝气。我校的舞龙，热辣拉丁和街舞的混合表演赢得了在场观众的阵阵掌声，不仅彰显了中国传统文化特色，还充满了时代和时尚感。这个环节我校取得了第四名的好成绩。

午休后，下午的篮球3+3作为重点项目也在大家的关注和期待中开始。代表我校的三名篮球干将分别是校队的中国学生田毅方，同济校区的巴哈马留学生付文忠和电子信息与通信学院的赤道几内亚留学生马吉。第一场我校逢敌长江大学，双方球员不甘示弱，最后我校以13：8的成绩旗开得胜，之后我校代表队士气大振，在教练的及时指挥下，队员之间的配合更加紧密融洽，最后我校一路过五关斩六将，连赢四场获得A组小组冠军。接着，我校又以6:5险胜江汉大学，和武大一起进入争冠赛。虽然体力消耗严重，但是篮球员们还是秉着“坚持不懈，团结第一”的精神，在啦啦队们的欢呼声中一举以10:5的高分赢得了比赛，以连赢6场的佳绩摘得篮球赛冠军。

为期一天“留动中国”留学生体育比赛湖北赛在中外学生们的努力中划上完满句号，最终我校以总分第一的成绩摘得桂冠，紧随其后的是三峡大学，武汉大学和华中师范大学。“我们的胜利与学校的重视和选手们的勤奋练习分不开，我为华科的中外学生们自豪！”华科带队老师严薇说道，“选手们报名后的几天里，教练们和同事们积极指导配合，大家为比赛付出了很多，终于获得了回报。”

据悉，此次活动由湖北省教育厅主办，武汉体育学院承办，旨在为在华留学生们提供一个展示自我，发扬体育精神，促进中外友谊的平台。自2014年第一届举办以来，该活动已在来华留学生中得到广泛支持与关注。比赛分为省赛，区赛和国家赛三个等级，此次胜出的四支队伍将代表湖北高校前往扬州参加东南部赛区区赛，为争取全国赛参赛资格展开角逐。
