Wuhan, my Second Home

I am Hira Manzoor from Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. I got my master’s degree from School of Electronic Information and Communications, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Throughout my life I had always heard of one season of China, the autumn season. Yes, this is true, not about the Great Wall but fall season made me curious to visit China. I am lucky enough that I got scholarship opportunity and I witnessed all the beautiful memories of China which I will cherish throughout my life. I could still remember the first time I landed Wuhan and fell in love with this city. HUST made me love strongly with China as all memories are still fresh in my mind when I first entered the campus. It was around 11pm, late September 2018, weather was perfect, early fall was started.  I got comfortable from the very first day in my campus.

I heard somewhere that we get to know China only by reaching here. China is a country one could never forget. As I am from Pakistan so we share a special friendship bond with China. China considers Pakistan as its Iron Brother. I could also feel that love and sense of brotherhood in Chinese people. I will always say proudly, ‘Wuhan is my second home’ throughout my life. Moreover, I made cross cultural friends here. I celebrated their festivals and they celebrated mine.  I have made life lasting friends. I am really happy that China has given me such good friends.

I also learned Chinese language. It was always fun speaking broken language with random people or shopkeepers. I learned few words of different languages as well and I taught them words of my language (Urdu). If talk about academics and research so I would definitely praise China because I have never seen such professionalism in any nation. Latest research technologies and everything is at easy access in their labs for students. I learned how to be busy all the time from Chinese people. I am really impressed by their habits as punctuality, discipline, manners etc. Chinses people are so welcoming and warm hearted. If I talk about food, I must say such tasty food I have never eaten anywhere. I love spices so I always preferred Xinjiang’s food. I loved eating barbecue on daily basis.

I saved some money from my scholarship to witness the beauty of China. I traveled major cities in China. Out of them I would love to mention Beijing. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Great Wall. I was mesmerized by the hustle and bustle of that city. It was a life time experience. That wall itself is an example of hardworking and devoted nation. The more I saw China the more I fell in love with this beautiful country.

China is a complete package for anyone who wants to experience best study, travel, explore, eat, shopping etc. I will always carry China in my heart forever. Chinese people are the sweetest. I am grateful and lucky enough that I chose china for higher studies. I would always take every opportunity to visit China again and again.  

《武汉，我的第二故乡》

我是来自巴基斯坦阿扎德克什米尔的希拉-曼祖尔，硕士毕业于华中科技大学电子信息与通信学院。在我的人生中，我总是能听到有关中国秋天的事情。是的，没错，不是中国的长城，而是中国的秋天让我对中国产生了好奇。我很幸运得到了中国政府奖学金并且目睹了中国的美丽，这些宝贵的记忆我将一生珍藏。我还记得第一次到达武汉时的情景，我爱上了这座城市。华中科技大学让我深深地爱上了中国。我第一次进入校园时的所有记忆都还历历在目。那是2018年9月下旬，晚上11点左右，天气很好，初秋已经到来。从进入校园的第一天起，我就感到非常舒适。

我不知道从哪里听过，只有到了中国，我们才会了解中国。中国是一个让人永远无法忘记的国家。因为我来自巴基斯坦，所以我们与中国有着特殊的友谊纽带。中国视巴基斯坦为铁哥们。我也能感受到中国人民的那种爱和兄弟情谊。在我的人生中，我总会骄傲地说：“武汉是我的第二故乡”。此外，我在这里还结识了世界各地的朋友。我庆祝他们的节日，他们也庆祝我们的节日。我在这里结识了终身难忘的朋友。我真的很高兴，中国给了我这么好的朋友。

我还学习了中文，对我而言，和路人或店主说不太熟练的中文总是很有趣。我也学会了一些不同语言的单词，我还教他们我的语言（乌尔都语）。如果说到学术研究，我一定会称赞中国，因为我从来没有在任何国家见过这样的专业性。学校的实验室拥有最新的研究技术，为学生带来很多便利。我从中国人身上学到了如何一直充实自己。他们的习惯让我印象深刻，如守时、遵纪、讲礼仪等。中国人是那么的热情好客，心地善良。如果谈到食物，我必须说我从来没有在任何地方吃到过这样美味的食物。我喜欢吃辣，所以我一直比较喜欢新疆的食物。我每天都吃烧烤。

我从我的奖学金中省下一些钱来领略中国的美丽。我走遍了中国主要的一些城市。在这些城市中，我最想说的是北京。当我看到长城的时候，我简直不敢相信自己的眼睛。我被那座城市的喧嚣和繁华所吸引。那是一次终身难忘的经历。那座城墙见证了中国人民的勤劳刻苦、勇于奉献。我对中国了解得越多，就越是爱上这个美丽的国家。

对于任何一个人来说，想拥有最佳的学习、旅游、探索、饮食、购物体验，中国就是完美的选择。我会永远把中国放在心里。中国人是最可爱的。我很感激，也很幸运，选择了在中国接受高等教育。我会抓住每一次机会，一次又一次地去中国。
