On September 21, the Meeting with HUST 2026 Clinical Internship Exchange Students and Tongji Hospital CDGM/DCGM Students Exchange Program Annual Summary Meeting was held in the No.1 Meeting Room of the Administration Building at Tongji Medical College. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid online and offline format. Attendees included relevant officials from the Second Clinical School, Tongji Hospital and the School of International Education, as well as student representatives of the clinical internship program from multiple German universities such as Heidelberg University, University of Hamburg and Technical University of Munich.

Prof. Sun Xufang, Vice Dean of the Second Clinical School, reviewed the history of Sino-German medical exchanges at Tongji Hospital, introduced the hospital’s comprehensive medical strength and clinical teaching resources, and expressed the hope that international students would actively promote the program after returning to their home countries and revisit for academic exchanges as scholars in the future.
Dr. Huang Chao, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, delivered the speech that HUST has been deeply engaged in international medical education, and has built the “Study Medicine at Tongji” international education brand by leveraging the high-quality clinical resources of Tongji Hospital. The international student clinical internship program has been expanding steadily with continuous improvement in education quality.

In the student sharing session, German student representatives shared their clinical internship gains based on rotations in multiple departments, compared the differences between Chinese and German medical systems, and shared their study, life and cultural experiences in Wuhan. Many students elaborated that the program had deepened their understanding of traditional Chinese culture and Chinese-style modernization, and expressed their willingness to come to China for exchanges again in the future.
During the open discussion session, all participating parties fully exchanged views on issues such as application process optimization, pre-arrival information briefing, expansion of interaction channels between Chinese and German medical students, and improvement of alumni liaison.
Giving full play to the traditional advantages of Tongji Medical College in Sino-German exchanges, Huazhong University of Science and Technology continuously improves the international student clinical internship program, refines the service guarantee system, consolidates the platform for Sino-German medical talent training, deepens international medical education and exchanges, and steadily enhances the university’s international influence and reputation.
