On the morning of October 29, 2025, the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language organized a cultural experience activity titled "Brewing Eastern Tea, Toasting Global Friends" for students.
The event began with an engaging lecture by the Chinese teacher, Ms. Fang Fang, who guided the students through the origins of Chinese tea, its various categories, and unique characteristics. Amidst the aroma of tea, students gained insights into the historical and cultural significance of tea's dissemination, tracing its journey from the ancient Silk Road and the Ten-Thousand-Mile Tea Route to today's Belt and Road Initiative.

Following the lecture, the Chinese teacher, Ms. Yi Guimei presented a detailed demonstration of traditional Chinese tea art. Through steps such as warming the cups, adding the tea leaves, brewing, pouring, and serving the tea, the students experienced the charm of China's 3,000-year-old tea culture.

During the tea-tasting session, students not only sampled famous Chinese teas like Enshi Yulu but also had the opportunity to change into elegant traditional attire. Under the guidance of the teachers, they learned and practiced tea art, immersing themselves in the refinement and joy of the "tea" experience.

Serving as a bridge for cultural exchange between the East and the West, this event allowed the students to deeply appreciate the profound depth of Chinese tea culture and the spirit of "building friendship through tea."

This engaging tea culture experience is a reflection of the October Chinese Culture Experience Series organized by the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. Throughout October, the center meticulously planned and conducted over ten diverse and substantial cultural immersion activities, all centered around exemplary traditional Chinese culture. These initiatives consistently used hands-on practice as the medium and cultural understanding as the core, not only adding dynamic real-world context to Chinese language education but also building a multidimensional bridge for cultural exchange. This infusion of vitality actively promotes the global reach of traditional Chinese culture and fosters mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
