On the evening of October 23, the Center of Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language organized international students to participate in a Peking Opera performance event hosted by the School of Arts. The event specially invited artists from the Hubei Peking Opera Theater to perform alongside the international students. Centered around "Highlighted Scenes from Classic Plays," it provided a professional platform for international students to experience the charm of this quintessential Chinese art up close.

At the event, the magnificent Peking Opera costumes and vividly colored facial makeup made a stunning appearance first. The exquisite patterns, the agile water sleeves, combined with the distinct facial makeup styles of the male, female, painted-face, and clown roles, instantly transported the international students into the legendary world of Peking Opera. Subsequently, professional performers from the Hubei Peking Opera Theatre presented highlights from four classic operas: Autumn River, Chisang Town, Shajiabang - Wisdom Fight, and Sizhou City. The melodious singing, elegant movements, and captivating plots won rounds of applause from the international students present.

The interactive experience session excited the students even more. Four international students were invited to experience customized Peking Opera makeup. Under the skilled hands of professional makeup artists, stylized and expressive facial makeup was applied; they then changed into elaborate costumes and learned basic movements and postures under the guidance of the performers, personally experiencing the magical transition from "audience member" to "character in the play." Alahoui Youssef, a student from Morocco, expressed: "The moment I put on the costume and had the makeup done, it felt like I had traveled into the story. It was incredible!"

This Peking Opera experience event used a format of professional performance plus immersive interaction to allow international students to intuitively feel the unique charm of Peking Opera culture. It not only enriched the campus cultural life of international students but also contributed to the international dissemination of Chinese culture through this exchange and interaction.
