In the end of October, U.S. News EDUCATION released the lastest result of Best Global Universities Rankings. In the ranking list, HUST shows great competition not only in domestic univerities, but also enjoys a worldwide recognition comparing with universities from 50 other countries. Accoding to the latest data, HUST ranks 9th in China, 40th regionally in Asia, and is at the 294th place in the world’s top 500 universities.
Besides from the insititions' overall ranks, subject rankings are also provided, which show the strength of each universities in a more specific way. As for HUST best majors, Enginering ranks 43th with an overall score of 70.3, and especially, among all indicators engineering number of highly cited papers and related publications ranks 17th and 20th respectively. At the same time, computer science shows great competition as well, with a global ranking of 46th.
The inaugural U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings were produced to provide insight into how universities compare globally. As an increasing number of students are planning to enroll in universities outside of their own country, the Best Global Universities rankings focus specifically on schools' academic research and reputation overall, which can help students accurately compare institutions around the world.
