Psychological Tips for NCP

To all international students,

As the NCP sweeping in Wuhan and other cities of Hubei Province, we have to protect ourselves and our families with a scientific method. In addition, we should learn how to keep mental health during this epidemic period. Here are some psychological tips for you.


1.  Be aware of your personal emotions.

There is a certain amount of anxiety during such period which is a normal reaction. However, if you find it hard to get rid of anxiety and panic, and your daily life is affected, you should pay attention and ask for help from your families, friends or professionals etc.


2.  Use scientific methods to adjust your emotions.

Emotional adjustment can be divided into cognitive adjustment, emotional adjustment and behavior adjustment. Cognitive adjustment changes our emotions by adjusting our attitude towards things. In such a special period, it`s better for our mentality to choose to believe in science, have faith in doctors and the Chinese government. Emotional adjustment refers to venting, distraction, relaxation meditation and other methods. In terms of behavior adjustment, you can make a plan for your daily life, such as doing housework, sports and chatting with friends who have not been in contact for a long time.


3.  Keep a healthy life and divert attention from epidemic.

Regular life is not only good for physical and psychological health; but also gives us a sense of control to others. Staying at home, we can choose home entertainment. In addition, we can also look at this period from a reconstructed perspective and think about how to spend this time in a positive way, such as reading books and watching movies that you have always wanted to watch and giving our families high-quality companions.


4.  Believe in science and don't trust any rumor.

After the outbreak of NCP, a huge amount of relevant information emerged on the Internet. In order to avoid anxiety transmission, we must consciously block negative information, believe in science, ignore rumors, and follow the information from the authorities.


5.  Resources for Psychological assistance.

The Center of Psychological Education of HUST now provides psychological assistance to all Chinese and International students. If you feel depressed or anxious, you can explain your psychological stress and demands through QQ messages, and the professionals will reply and provide guidance as soon as possible.

新型肺炎下的心理调适


全体国际学生:

近期,湖北省武汉市等多个地区发生的新型冠状病毒感染的肺炎疫情牵动着每个人。我们除了按照科学的方法照顾好自己及家人的身体,同时还可以有意识的调整心态。以下为心理自助的小贴士,希望能够对你有所帮助。


1.  对自己的情绪保持觉察。

在这样的特殊时期,存在一定的焦虑情绪是正常反应。但如果感到难以抽离焦虑与恐慌情绪,日常生活受到影响,则要引起重视,需要积极、主动的自我调整或是向家人、朋友及专业人员求助。


2.  用科学的方法调适情绪。

情绪的调适可分为认知、情绪与行为三个层面。认知方面可以通过调整我们看待事情的态度,进而改变我们的情绪。在这样的非常时期,我们选择“相信”对心态是更有利的,相信科学,相信医生,相信中国。情绪方面可以通过宣泄、转移注意力、放松冥想等方式进行调整。行为方面可为自己每天的安排制定计划,例如做家务、运动、做手工,和许久未联系的朋友网上聊聊天等。


3.  保持健康、规律的生活,转移注意力。

规律的生活一方面有利于身心健康,另一方面可以带给我们一种掌控感。在不外出的情况下,可以适度选择家中娱乐活动。另外,可以用重新建构的视角看待这个时期,思考一下如何以自己希望的方式度过这段时间,例如看一些一直想看但没时间看的书籍、电影,给予家人高质量的陪伴等。



4.  相信科学,不听信谣传。

此次疫情出现后,网络上涌现海量的相关信息,为避免替代性创伤与焦虑传导,我们要有意识的屏蔽负面信息,相信科学,不听信谣传,每天定时关注官方信息即可。


5.  心理专业求助资源 。
