Research Interest

Dr. Ma initially proposed a new treatment model to protect female genital organs and functions for patients with cervical cancer, making it possible to preserve female reproductive and endocrine functions by performing neoadjuvant chemotherapy and improving operation methods. He revealed that the disruption of human papillomavirus (HPV) E2 gene was the key mechanism for the processes of HPV integration to cervical carcinogenesis. He first uncovered the susceptibility loci for cervical cancer in Chinese Han population by applying genome-wide association analysis. He also accelerated the network formation for cervical cancer prevention and therapy in China.
