"Would you come again? It was an interesting class”. On April 8, six international students from HUST went to the Outang Primary School and Wangdian Middle School in Xiaochang County of Hubei Province, and gave those students an interesting and lively English class. The volunteering activity was warmly welcomed by children in rural areas.

Outang Primary Schoollies at the foot of Dabie Mountain, where about 120 children reside. YULIA, a Russian girl prepared some vocabulary cards and cute stickers for the students so as to make her class more interesting. Since those who answered the questions correctly would be given a sticker, the children answered actively which added a great amount of liveliness to the class atmosphere.

In Wangdian Middle School,six volunteers were assigned tofour classes of grade eight and two classes of grade nine. All thestudents were so fond of the English class that they all wanted photos with their international teachers andasked for signature from the teachers in crowdsafter class.

"I am very happy with them!" Joseph said, a volunteer from Dominican Republic and it was his second time to XiaoChangCounty. He is learning Chinese now and has set up the first international student guitar club in HUST in his spare time. "I think this activity is very meaningful and I want to join it again."Joseph said, "My friends envy me very much, and they also hope to participate in such activities.

Organized by the School of International Education of Huazhong University of Science andTechnology, this activity aims at responding to the national policy of “Targeted Poverty Alleviation” actively. It opens a window to the outside world for the children in poverty. In addition, international students could also go out of the classroom and grasp a more comprehensive understanding of China directly through volunteering teaching.

“你们还来吗？今天的课有意思！”4月8日，我校6名国际学生走进湖北孝昌县藕塘小学和王店镇中学，为农村中小学生们带去了一堂生动活泼的英语课。洋雷锋们的爱心志愿行动受到了农村娃的热烈欢迎。

藕塘小学地处大别山脚下，有120余名农村孩子。志愿者们分别为六个年级的孩子们上起了英语课。来自俄罗斯的尤利亚准备了单词卡片和小彩贴。如果谁答对了卡片上单词的意思，就可以获得一枚小彩贴。孩子们争相抢答，跃跃欲试，课堂气氛热闹异常。

在王店镇中学，六名志愿者被安排到八年级的4个班和九年级的2个班中。短短四十分钟的全英文课程，让农村的中学生们沉浸其中。下课后，大家纷纷和“外教”们合影，索要签名。

“我很快乐！和他们在一起。”来自多米尼加的约瑟夫是第二次来到孝昌。他目前在我校学习汉语，业余时间组建了华中科技大学首个国际学生吉他俱乐部。“我觉得这样的活动很有意义，希望以后还有。”约瑟夫在手机上刷起了朋友圈。“我的朋友们都很羡慕，他们也希望参加这样的活动。”

此次国际学生走进农村中小学活动是由华中科技大学国际教育学院专门组织的。一方面，积极响应国家“精准扶贫”的号召，为中国农村的孩子打开一扇感知世界的窗户；另一方面，通过爱心支教的方式，国际学生走出课堂，更加全面直接的了解中国。
