Language Students: Feel Chinese Culture with Your Hands!

On April 8, language students from Class A1 learned about several Chinese famous cities and some Chinese songs, and students played as “ teacher” this time. The students were divided into three groups and introduced three Chinese famous cities Beijing, Shanghai and Guilin respectively. They also learned a simple Chinese song called “Baby”.

They also had a special class introducing traditional Chinese festivals and making lanterns on April 22. Students from three groups introduces three famous Chinese festivals, they are Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Day and the Lantern Festival. Then, they made the lanterns themselves, which was a really memorable experience.

On April 22, students from Class A2 learnt about how to make paper-cuttings. With the help of head teacher and oral Chinese teacher, they made some handiwork themselves, and they even created new paper-cuttings like snow and apple. All of them enjoyed a great time of learning Chinese traditional cultures as well as practicing oral Chinese with each other.

On April 23, students in Class B1 had a wonderful time of making dumplings themselves in East No.9 Teaching Building. They not only learned about the culture of dumplings, but also made it themselves, then enjoyed the delicious food made by themselves.

Students in Class B2 learned about Chinese calligraphy in East No.9 Teaching Building. Before this class ,the language students knew little about how to make it even though they often see it ,but after this meaningful class ,they all had a deeply understanding of traditional cultures of Chinese calligraphy. The students also learned about how to use Chinese writing brush and tried to write Chinese characters themselves.

On the afternoon of April 23, students in Class B4 learned about making Chinese paper-cutting. They were very excited about learning traditional Chinese cultures like paper-cutting. With the guidance of their teacher ,they made the paper-cutting work ”XI”(a symbol stands for joy and lucky in Chinese culture ). Finally,all the students in Class B4 made an amazing teamwork——the paper-cutting work “B4, Best forever!” That must be the best memory for all of them.
