The second "Huayun Cup" Chinese speech contest was held on the afternoon of May 29, 2026, at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Fifteen international students took the stage to share their thoughts and stories in Chinese under the theme "A Global Community of Shared Future." The contest was organized by the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, HUST. Chen Rong, Dean of School of International Education of HUST; He Gang, Associate Dean; Yu Zheng, Director of the Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language; Zhang Ke, Deputy Director of the International Student Office; and representatives of Chinese language teachers attended the contest.

At the start of the event, Dean Chen Rong congratulated the finalists and encouraged students to use Chinese as a bridge for friendly exchanges between China and other countries.
The contest featured speeches that moved from personal experiences to broader visions. One student shared small acts of kindness received after first arriving in China. Another spoke of understanding the shared future for mankind through observing a stray cat. Others looked further: one cited the China-Laos Railway as an example of connectivity brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, while another expressed hope of bringing China's new energy vehicle technology back to her home country.

The last contestant, Fang Qing from Mongolia, invited her Chinese teacher onto the stage and delivered blessings in both Chinese and Mongolian. Moved to tears, she received prolonged applause from the audience.

After on-site scoring by the judges, Nguyen Uyen Quan from Vietnam won first prize. The contest also awarded three second prizes, five third prizes, and six honorable mentions. Rejepova Malika from Turkmenistan received the Most Popular Award.

The event came to a warm close as students from the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language sang "Tomorrow Will Be Better" together. The contest fully demonstrated the solid Chinese language skills and open, inclusive spirit of the international students at the center. The center will organize more activities in the future to provide students with more opportunities to showcase themselves.
