Notice on the First "East Lake Forum" International Student Academic Exchange Seminar

To all relevant universities:
To further implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of letters to the international student community, to fully promote educational openness in the new era, and to advance the development of the “HUST Model” of China’s national education framework, the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering and the School of International Education at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) plan to organize the first "East Lake Forum" International Student Academic Seminar on December 7-8, 2024, in Wuhan, China.
I.Seminar Theme
Chinese Path to Modernization and the Era of Intelligent Manufacturing for New Productive Force.
II.Seminar Format
1. Participants: The seminar is open to outstanding international students currently studying in China, with on-site attendance limited to no more than 80 participants.
2. Main agenda:
① Expert Keynote Academic Report: Liu Changqing is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at HUST-MSE, as well as a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE);
② Expert Keynote Practical Report: ADHAM SAYED, Researcher, Institute of East Asian Studies, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Member of the Central Committee of the Lebanese Communist Party;
③ International Students` Keynote Academic Report: What I Learned About Intelligent Manufacturing in China.
④ International Students' Theme Practical Report: What I Have Witnessed about Intelligent Manufacturing in China.
⑤ Poster Display and Evaluation
⑥ Site Visits: National Digital Construction Technology Innovation Center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan Intelligent Equipment Industrial Technology Research Institute;
⑦ Participant Exchange and Discussion Session.
3. Schedule:
① Oct. 30-Nov. 15: Recommendation of speakers and posters from each university.
② Nov.16-Nov.22: Selection of speakers and notification to universities.
③ Nov.23-Nov.30: Feedback on participants from each university.
④ Dec.7: Opening ceremony, keynote reports by experts, thematic reports by international students, poster evaluation, and site visits.
⑤ Dec 8th: Discussion, award ceremony, and closing ceremony.
III.Relevant Requirements
1. Reporter
①Academic Presenters: Published at least one JCR Q2 journal article as the first author in the field of intelligent manufacturing, with non-confidential research content, and should present a thematic report based on the paper and their own research.
②Practical Presenters: Must have participated in the “Perceiving China” series of study tours organized by the China Scholarship Council or similar national education activities organized by their university, or have internship experience in enterprises in the field of intelligent manufacturing, and present a thematic report based on their visits and practical experiences.
2. Posters
①Academic Posters: Published at least one SCI paper in the field of intelligent manufacturing as the first author, with non-confidential research content, or design a poster based on the paper and their own research.
② Practical posters: Must have participated in the “Perceiving China” series of study tours organized by the China Scholarship Council or similar national education activities organized by their university, or have internship experience in enterprises in the field of intelligent manufacturing, and create a poster based on their visits and practical experiences.
③ The poster should be in English and designed in a vertical format of 90cm*120cm.
3. Materials Submission
① Each university should send the Slides and posters of the recommended speakers to iso_admin@hust.edu.cn before November 17.
② Posters should be submitted in their original design files for uniform formatting.
③An attendance confirmation email should be sent to iso_admin@hust.edu.cn before November 30.
4. Accommodation, transportation, and poster printing will be provided by School of International Education, HUST.

关于举办首届“East Lake Forum”国际学生
学术交流研讨会的通知
各有关高校:
为进一步贯彻落实习近平总书记给国际学生群体的系列回信精神,全面做好新时代教育对外开放,推进中国国情教育体系“华科大模式”的建设与完善,华中科技大学机械科学与工程学院和国际教育学院拟于2024年12月7-8日,在武汉举办首届“East Lake Forum”国际学生学术交流研讨会。
一、研讨会主题
中国式现代化与新质生产力的智造时代。
二、研讨会形式
1.参加对象:面向国内优秀在读国际学生,研讨会现场参会人员不超过80人。
2.主要议程:
①专家主旨学术报告:刘长清,华中科技大学机械科学与工程学院教授及博士生导师,美国电器电子工程师协会(IEEE)资深会员;
②专家主旨实践报告:ADHAM SAYED,浙江工商大学东亚研究院研究员,黎巴嫩共产党中央委员;
③国际学生主题学术报告:我在中国所学到的智能制造;
④国际学生主题实践报告:我在中国所见到的智能制造;
⑤墙报展示与评比;
⑥参观考察:华中科技大学国家数字建造技术创新中心、武汉智能装备工业技术研究院;
⑦与会者交流讨论。
3.时间安排:
①10月30日-11月15日,各校推荐报告人和墙报;
②11月16日-11月22日,组织评选报告人并通知各高校;
③11月23日-11月30日,各校反馈参会人员;
④12月7日,研讨会开幕式、专家主旨报告、国际学生主题报告、墙报评比、参观考察;
⑤12月8日,交流讨论、颁奖仪式、闭幕式。
三、相关要求
1.报告人
①学术报告人:应以第一作者发表智能制造领域JCR2区论文1篇以上,研究内容非涉密,结合论文内容和自身研究做主题报告;
②实践报告人:应参加过国家留学基金委“感知中国”系列考察活动或所在学校自行组织的国情教育考察活动,或有在智能制造领域企业实习实践经历,结合参观考察和实习实践经历做主题报告。
2.墙报
①学术类墙报:应以第一作者发表智能制造领域SCI论文1篇以上,研究内容非涉密,结合论文内容和自身研究制作墙报;
②实践类墙报:应参加过国家留学基金委“感知中国”系列考察活动或所在学校自行组织的国情教育考察活动,或有在智能制造领域企业实习实践经历,结合参观考察和实习实践经历制作墙报;
③墙报应为全英文,设计幅面为竖版90cm*120cm。
3.材料提交方式
①11月17日前,各校推荐报告人的报告PPT和墙报发送至iso_admin@hust.edu.cn;
②墙报应发送原始设计文件,以便统一板式制作;
③11月30日前,参会回执发放至iso_admin@hust.edu.cn。
4.研讨会不收取会务费,食宿交通和墙报制作由华中科技大学国际教育学院统一负责。
