"Picking up fans”,"striding over brazier”, "thanking parents”, "lifting veil”……these wedding customs that are seldom known among Chinese young people are walking into our Int'l Students’ life.

      On March 26th, SICA members in HUST hold the 100thChinese Corner at Friendship Apartment Square. A couple from Turkey experiences a traditional Chinese wedding.

      Long Qianni, in charge of the activity, hopes that Chinese traditional culture could pass down from generation to generation and the international students could better integrate in China by experiencing Chinese traditional customs.

      It is reported that the bride Ipek (Chinese name: Si Chou) and the groom Ergi (Chinese name: Ma Yong) have fallen in love for four years and are studying Chinese at HUST at present.

      Ipek says she loves Chinese traditional culture, and she has studied Taijiquan(Chinese shadow boxing) in Turkey. She also likes playing mahjong. It is her first time to experience the Chinese traditional wedding. The scene of the "wedding" gives her a “big feast” and makes her understand the Chinese traditional culture of filial piety. When asked if she would really choose Chinese wedding, Ipek hesitates for a while and says, "We will go back to Turkey and get married with our parents. However, if our parents could come to China, we will choose Chinese traditional wedding firstly."

       "捡扇子”、“跨火盆”、“拜高堂”、“掀盖头”……这些连许多中国学生都难得一见的婚礼习俗，却走进了我校留学生的生活。3月26日晚，我校SICA协会在友谊公寓广场举办了第100期汉语角活动，一对土耳其恋人体验了一场中国的传统婚礼。

       活动负责人龙倩妮称举办这次活动不仅是希望中国的传统文化习俗能够传承下去，更是让留学生通过亲身体验中国的传统习俗来了解中国的传统文化，从而更好地融入中国。

       据了解，新娘Ipek(中文名：丝绸)和新郎Ergi（中文名：马勇）都来自土耳其，两人已经相恋4年，目前在我校学习中文。

       新娘Ipek表示自己很喜欢中国传统文化，她在土耳其时就学过中国的太极拳，也很喜欢玩麻将。这是她第一次深入了解中国传统婚礼的过程，“婚礼”现场的中国红元素让她觉得十分喜庆。她还在“成亲”的过程中感受到了中国传统文化中的孝道。当谈及以后会不会真的采用这种方式与男友Ergi结婚时，Ipek犹豫了一会儿，又笑着说：“以后还是会回到土耳其和父母一起办婚礼，如果父母能来中国，我们肯定会首先考虑中国传统婚礼的形式。”
