On July 26, the closing ceremony of the 2026 UAE Advanced Technology Summer Camp was held at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). H.E. Khaled Alshehhi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the UAE Embassy in China, and Professor Xu Xiaodong, Chair Professor and Deputy Director of the University Academic Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered keynote addresses. Twenty participating students and a lead teacher from Khalifa University gathered to present the culmination of their two-week technological and cultural journey in Wuhan through a series of insightful project presentations.
In his remarks, Professor XU noted that this year marks the eighth anniversary of the China-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He highlighted that the state visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to China this past April further reinforced bilateral strategic alignment in technological innovation, educational cooperation, and youth engagement. He emphasized that HUST has long been committed to strengthening educational exchanges with UAE counterparts. Following the UAE Ambassador's visit to the university in April 2026, both sides moved swiftly to reach a consensus and bring this summer camp to a successful conclusion. Looking ahead, HUST will continue to deepen substantive cooperation with UAE institutions in academic exchange and joint research, creating more international platforms for mutual learning and shared growth among the youth of both nations.

The highlight of the event was the student presentation session, in which the 20 participants, divided into five groups, delivered reports on topics ranging from "Smart Construction" and "Advanced Technology" to "Smart Governance" and "Chinese Culture." Their presentations covered a wide spectrum—from intelligent construction site monitoring systems and urban governance algorithms to Chinese-language skits and comparative cultural studies. The topics were both forward-looking and warmly humanistic, reflecting the students' thoughtful engagement with how technology can serve society and how culture can bridge nations. Their solid academic preparation, innovative thinking, and seamless teamwork drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
At the close of the ceremony, Professor XU Xiaodong and H.E. Khaled Alshehhi jointly presented each participant with a certificate of completion and exchanged commemorative gifts.
Over the course of the two-week program, the Khalifa University students not only attended lectures on advanced technologies but also visited national-level major science facilities, such as the Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Science Center, where they witnessed firsthand China's independent innovation capabilities. At the HUST Center for Practice Innovations, the students rolled up their sleeves and engaged in hands-on projects, tracing the complete innovation chain from theory to application. In addition, they toured high-tech enterprises in China's Optics Valley and Auto Valley, gaining direct insight into the country's innovation ecosystem and the pathways through which research is translated into real-world impact. These experiences significantly boosted their confidence and shared commitment to deepening Sino-UAE cooperation in science and technology.
As the saying goes, "No mountain or ocean can separate those who share the same aspirations." The successful hosting of this summer camp is not only a concrete step by HUST to implement the outcomes of China-UAE summit diplomacy and support the Belt and Road Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan, but also a vivid testament to the growing mutual trust and shared development between the two countries in education and youth affairs.
