The Huawei ICT Competition is an annual global event for university students and teachers, themed “Connection, Glory, Future” with the slogan “I. C. The Future.” It offers an international platform for competition and exchange, enabling participants to strengthen their ICT knowledge, improve practical skills, and foster innovation using the latest technologies and platforms.

Launched in 2015, it has been listed as a national university competition in China and recognized as a UNESCO Global Skills Academy flagship program. Over nine previous editions, it attracted over 210,000 students from 2,000+ universities worldwide. The 10th edition of the China Finals was co-hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) and Huawei in April 2026, and featured 6 upgraded tracks:

  • Innovation - Real-world problem-solving with new technologies

  • Challenge Supercomputing-intelligence performance optimization

  • Elite - Sales & business acumen

HUST: Innovation through University-Enterprise Co-Creation

HUST has been working with Huawei for 38 years, building deep mutual trust and comprehensive cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research. Co-hosting the 10th China Finals was a proactive step to deepen this strategic partnership. Both sides are exploring an innovative closed loop of “Technological Breakthroughs - Achievement Transformation -  Talent Feedback”, to cultivate more outstanding engineers and innovative talents for the core technology fields, fulfilling HUST’s responsibility and commitment as a national strategic sci-tech force.


As Vice President Prof. FENG Dan explained at the press conference, HUST is committed to building a comprehensive talent cultivation ecosystem connecting “Classroom- Laboratory-  Competition Platform- Industry Frontline”. By co-hosting competitions like the Huawei ICT Competition, HUST brings real industry challenges to campus, enabling students to hone practical skills and ignite innovative potential.


HUST Students Outstanding Results

At the China Finals, HUST teams achieved excellent results:

1 team advanced to the Global Finals.

1 team won 1st Prize

3 teams won 2nd Prize

1 team won 3rd Prize.

These teams were selected from the School of Electronic Information and Communications, the School of Computer Science and Technology, and multiple schools including Optical & Electronic Information, Mechanical Science & Engineering, Cyberspace Security, and Integrated Circuits.


Nationwide, 83 teams advanced to the Global Finals, which will be held June 2-5 in Shenzhen, where they will compete with over 100 teams from around the world on the same stage.

From HUST to the World

As the host, HUST demonstrated not only academic excellence but also a warm, welcoming spirit. Nearly 100 student volunteers were subdivided into specialized groups for event services, guiding and coordination, offered practical support while overseeing the smooth running of the event. They provided route guidance, information assistance, luggage help, and many other services with smiling faces, creating a lasting first impression of HUST’s culture of care. Their dedication vividly illustrated the volunteer spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual help, and progress”.

As one of China’s top universities and a strategic partner of Huawei, HUST has long been deeply involved in cultivating students’ ICT skills through university-enterprise collaboration.
