Practical Activity on Chinese Culture and National Conditions Education of Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language: International Students Visit Wuhan's Qingshan District Library and Xingouqiao Street Guangming Community

    To actively advance the innovation in practical education on Chinese culture and national conditions for international students, Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language organized 30 international students to visit the Qingshan District Library and the Xingouqiao Street Guangming Community in Wuhan on October 30 for a practical learning and cultural immersion activity focused on Wuhan's culture and China's national conditions.

    At the Qingshan District Library, the international students engaged in lively cross-cultural exchanges with local residents and middle school students from the Guangming Community. The library’s elegant environment and diverse cultural interactions allowed the students to experience the rich cultural life of Wuhan’s residents and gain insight into the city’s unique local culture.

    Later, the students visited the Guangming Community Residents' Committee in Xingougiao Street, where they gained an in-depth understanding of the convenient services provided to residents and learned about community support measures for the elderly and children. This offered them a firsthand look at the people-centered management and services in Chinese communities.

    To conclude the activity, the international students, together with community residents, learned Wuhan dialect in real-life settings such as the library and community commercial areas, immersing themselves in the vibrant local atmosphere.

    The international students expressed that this activity allowed them to witness a modern Wuhan community that combines local characteristics with an international atmosphere, deepening their understanding of Wuhan’s culture and China’s path to modernization. This exchange served as a practical learning platform for international students to engage with Chinese culture and national conditions. It represented a concrete implementation of our college's innovation in international Chinese language education, encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of Wuhan and China. In the future, our college will provide more opportunities for cultural exchange and practical learning about China’s national conditions, supporting the cultivation of international talents who understand and befriend China, and further promoting the high-quality development of the "Study at HUST" brand.
