Program Overview
As a flagship initiative under China’s "Belt and Road" medical cooperation framework, Wuhan Union Hospital’s 2025 International Summer School, "Global Medical Exploration", unites students and scholars worldwide to tackle pressing healthcare challenges. Focused on precision medicine, AI-driven healthcare, genomic diagnostics, and global public health, this program bridges cutting-edge research with clinical practice.
Hosted by world-renowned experts from institutions like Imperial College London, University of Washington, and University of Pennsylvania, the program combines rigorous academic lectures, hands-on workshops, and interactive discussions.
Introduction of the Host
Hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) First Clinical College, the program leverages Wuhan Union Hospital’s century-long legacy in medical excellence. As a national leader with 34 state-level clinical key specialties and pioneering technologies like heart transplantation and CAR-T therapy, the hospital is a hub for international collaboration. Partnering with 8 top global institutions, including Heidelberg University in Germany, the college fosters a dynamic ecosystem for innovation, education, and cross-cultural medical diplomacy.
Duration and Schedule
July 31th – August 15th, 2025 (16 Days)
A dynamic blend of theory, practice, and cultural immersion
Participants will:
Engage with Global Experts: Learn from leading scholars at institutions like Heidelberg University and University of Birmingham.
Master Advanced Techniques: Explore CAR-T therapy, ultra-fast ultrasound imaging, and AI applications in radiology through hands-on workshops.
Drive Collaborative Innovation: Join cross-border research teams to address disease prevention and digital health solutions for "Belt and Road" countries.
Experience Cultural Synergy: Participate in hybrid learning (70% lectures + 30% interactive seminars) and cultural exchanges, including traditional Chinese medicine sessions.
Eligibility
1. Non-Chinese citizens aged 18–35 with valid passports.
2. Current undergraduate/graduate students or faculties and researchers in medicine, biotechnology, or public health related.
3. Good proficiency of English
Fees
1. Program Cost: Approximately ¥10,000 RMB per student (covers tuition, materials, cultural activities, and local transportation).
2. Accommodation fee: 700 CNY/Month (4 weeks, double room standard)
3. Excluded: International flights, visa fees, travel insurance, and personal expenses.
Notes: HUST will assist all qualified candidates with full scholarship funding from China Scholarship Council which will include full tuition waiver, free on-campus accommodation (double room standard) , medical insurance in China, and stipend. HUST will notify the scholarship results before sending final admission documents to each student.
