According to the latest statistics, 760 international students from 108 countries have registered in HUST this semester. The number of students from Europe and America has rapidly increased compares with last year, taking a proportion of more than 20% of all the students. 51.2% of the students are from Asia, with proportion remaining stable. Besides, African students take up 27.86% in the total number and 0.39% students are from Oceania.
The number of high-level students has also increased steadily. Masters, PhDs and advanced students take up 62.5% of all international students. With the support of scholarship policy, many international students show great interests in engineering and science. Besides, majors like medical science, management and economics remain its attraction to students.
In addition, the quality of students also keeps improving year by year. The GPA of scholarship students is over 85(100) or 3.2(4). Among them, a lot of students graduated from famous foreign universities, such as University College London, RWTH Aachen University, Institut Supérieur d'Electronique de Paris and so on.
The number of English program students experiences a constant increase. Among undergraduates, 81 students enrolled in MBBS, ranking at first place in all majors of HUST. At the same time, communication engineering is the second most popular major with 23 students enrolled in. As to the distribution of majors for postgraduates, School of Management, Union Hosital and School of Economics are the most welcomed, with 63, 34, 33 international students enrolled respectively.
With the enhancement of HUST international reputation, the increasing number of Enlish-delivering majors, greater support of scholarship policy and the well-constructed online platform of HUST professors, more and more international students take HUST as their first choice for further study.
