2016 HUST Entrance Scholarship for International Undergraduates Awarding Ceremony was held in Room C202, D9 Building, at 9am, Nov. 18th. All the international undergraduates of 2016, and teachers from School of Life Science and Technology, School of Electronics Information and Communications, School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, and School of Economics attended the ceremony.
The whole ceremony was hosted by Ms Yan Wei, undergraduate program officer from International Student Office. Ms Yan firstly emphasized the significance of this awarding ceremony, which not only acknowledged winners’ excellent high school performance, but also to motivate new students to work harder in university. Mr. Ai Xiao, international student admission officer, also made a speech to encourage freshmen to study harder and achieve better results. Mr. Ai also encouraged current undergraduates to promote our bachelor program back home and attract more excellent high school graduates from around the world to study in HUST. A total of 25 newly-enrolled undergraduates, among whom are Sri Lanka MBBS student DINGIRI BANDAGE POORNIMA PRASADI JAYASEKARA, Sudan student ISMAIL AHAMED HASSAN AWAD, majoring in Telecommunications, Central Africa student ANDRICK YOUDOM, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Design, Uganda student ESTER KATWERE NAJJEMBA, majoring in International Business, Iraqi student HAJIR HAYDER ABBOOD AL-SARRAF, majoring in Pharmacy, and Botswana student SUMMER HAN and etc. were awarded with the scholarship. Ms NAOMI MONICA REDWAY from Jamaica expressed her gratitude to the university, and expressed that she is going to put 100% efforts in academic progress in the next 6 years with the aiming to become a great doctor after graduation.
The purpose for establishing HUST Entrance Scholarship for International Undergraduates is to attract more outstanding international high school graduates to study in HUST, and to improve the quality of undergraduate admission. There are a total of 205 new undergraduate students from 66 countries coming to HUST for education.
